From Mooresville/Statesville:
  • take I-77 south to MOORESVILLE NC. exit # 36 which is NC HWY 150 (will say LINCOLNTON-MOORESVILLE exit)

  • get off 77 and take 150 west (right) toward LINCOLNTON

  • several miles from there you cross a long bridge over LAKE NORMAN/CATAWBA RIVER . start looking ahead and to the right for four very tall smoke stacks. this is DUKE POWER's MARSHALL STEAM STATION

  • you will then go about a mile or so and cross a short high bridge over the intake for the plant. the plant is on the right and is huge. i don't think that you could miss it!! it is about 5 miles from where you exited 77 to the plant

  • at the second traffic light after passing PLANT MARSHALL you turn left on to SLANTING BRIDGE ROAD. stay on this road and you come to a traffic light in DENVER NC. go straight through this light and the road name changes to FORNEY HILL ROAD.

  • stay on this road until you come to a stop sign. at the stop sign turn left on to BETH HAVEN CHURCH ROAD. stay on this road for several miles and you come to two stop signs that are only a few hundred feet apart. go straigh through both of these two stop signs. the road name changes after the second stop sign to BREVARD PLACE ROAD.

  • stay on BREVARD PLACE ROAD until it ends at a stop sign on an intersection with a road named LONG CIRCLE. make another left turn on to LONG CIRCLE

  • 1/2 mile later LONG CIRCLE intersects with NC HWY 27 @ another stop sign. (last one!) turn left again on to 27. you will go down a small hill (dip in the road actually) and then come back up another small hill. when you start back down this hill look on the left for the TRI-COUNTY ANIMAL RESCUE SIGN. turn left on to the paved driveway beside the sign . it is called AL HAGER LANE. wWe are on the right hand side of AL HAGER LANE behind Joann's parents little gray house. (it is between 1/4 and 1/2 mile from where you turned left off LONG CIRCLE on to 27 to the turn off.)
